How many pendants over an island?
For a 6 to 8 ft island, two or three pendants usually work best. Leave about 2 ft 6 in to 3 ft between fixtures and about 2 ft 6 in between the countertop and the bottom of the pendant. For a very long island, a single linear pendant is also a great option.
